I have lived my entire life in the mountain area of Cebu and each time I try to escape from its gravity I always ends up getting pulled toward the same spot, in this wilderness. Or so I thought. However I now realised that I was probably just making an excuse to be here. Maybe something or someone is telling me that this is where I need to be, that this is home.

When the time allows even with some constraints, I still always make sure to explore the remote areas in our vicinity. Not everyone enjoys it though so I travel alone most of the time. One day before attending another draining shift at work I decided to go up into the mountains to visit a farmland that is owned and managed by a friend. The sun was finally out that time just a few hours after a recent weather disturbance hit a portion of the Visayas. It was still relatively cold and most of the western part of the mountain was still covered with a blanket of fog.

Farm work started early around 6 in the morning just before the arrival of intense sunlight. It was pretty much another ordinary day for them and whilst I was sitting there watching closely as they do their routine, I was in awe at the amount of work they had to put in to make sure that their produce remains at optimum condition until they're ready for shipment to the local market. It was a joy to see them doing things traditionally just as how our ancestors did back in the days. This day was an awesome escape from my daily routine to the point that I almost forgot that it's 2018. You should try it too.
