Our story started way back 7 years ago in Middle Earth. I was an International student then taking up Diploma in Management at one of the schools in Auckland. I considered that brief episode of my life as one of the best. Everything seemed fun and exciting as I was living a world so different from the one I grew up in. Equipped with full independence, I ventured into the unknown with enthusiasm. I took everyday as an opportunity for new discoveries and immersed myself with the wonderful world and culture of the Kiwis. I was able to make new acquaintances, meet strangers who became friends and found friends who became my family.

Somewhere in the middle of my journey in New Zealand I found Crystle. We were introduced by our mutual friends in one of the Filipino gatherings that we attended. She was sweet and friendly and the way she treated her friends was nothing short of amazing. I personally didn't believe at love at first sight but at that very moment I knew right there and then that this woman would be someone special. Sadly for me she wasn't available. It was a bit disappointing to be attracted to someone only to find out she was already taken, but it wasn't all that bad. I had learned to master the art of liking her in silence. We became good pals and spent numerous gatherings together with our friends and her family and that was more than enough for me.

Just like an unfinished novel, ours took a state of suspension the day I left New Zealand in May 2014 to head back to my home country, the Philippines. Our mutual understanding slowly waned as days turned into weeks then years and the times we shared in NZ eventually faded into nothing more but memories of the past. We talked and chatted every once in a while, then after a period of time we just went on with our separate lives and communicated only on rare occasions.

A few years after, sometime in 2017, she moved to United Kingdom. She stayed there for more than a year and during her lonely nights I randomly asked how she's faring. No one knew about our reconnection at the start. Just like no one knew about my heartbreak when I was foolish enough to not pursue her when I had the chance. I was full of hesitations at first, however, I persisted in believing that I could never go wrong with the right person. Our conversations started short and insignificant but slowly progressed and headed into a promising direction as time went on. That setup lasted for quite a while and reached a point where we started talking about our future together. It was not an easy journey but we learned so much along the way.

In the middle of 2018, she took courage and headed straight to the Philippines from the UK so we could meet again after four long years. I was excitedly counting down the days, hours and minutes to the reunion. The moment we met everything felt just right and we instantly clicked as if we never parted. It felt as if every failure, every mishaps, every heartache had led me right to that exact moment.

I welcomed her into my home and introduced her to my entire family and friends. Like a giggly teenager, I took her to a romantic picnic under the stars on top of the mountains as well as a trip to Southern Cebu to tick off one of her bucketlist, to swim with the whales. Our itinerary took us to an unforgettable expedition around my island visiting several historical landmarks, tourist spots and even places unknown to tourists.

We were so busy catching up and creating so much memories together within that 2 months that we almost didn't notice the passing of time. On October of last year she flew back to NZ while I went back to living my days without her. It was sad but that was part of our reality.

We continued to communicate on a daily basis just as what we regularly do on normal occasions however the 15th day of November 2018 was quite special. On that day she called me via Facebook Messenger and told me about the big news, that I was going to be a father! Different emotions came to me all at once at that moment. As soon as the thrill subsided, what came out of it was pure joy. I then shared the news to my parents and a few friends.

During my 32nd birthday we made the news public so that rest of our friends would know.

I am still in a state euphoria until now and I am very excited to see her and our little angel soon. I hope and pray for God's favor to reunite us once more so we could embark on this journey together, not just as lovers but this time as a family back in the place where it all began.
